Hosalkar on Public Speaking

Hosalkar spends much of his time traveling around the world as a visiting professor giving lectures and presentations. Hosalkar does not have what a large majority of today’s population has: a fear of public speaking. In fact, Hosalkar feels as comfortable speaking in front of a group as he does having a one-on-one conversation. What’s the trick? There may not be one trick, but there are a few tips on conquering your fear of public speaking. Here are a couple of Hosalkar’s most useful:

It’s Not as Important as You Think – Chances are your public speaking engagement is not as big of a deal as you may think it is. The reason your upcoming lecture or presentation seems like such a big deal is that you have been thinking about nothing else for the past few days. Hosalkar points out that your audience has not. Your audience is just there to listen, and it is probably not even the most important part of their day. Hosalkar advises you to remember that your public speaking ability does not define you as a person.

Stop Trying to be PerfectHosalkar always tells people to stop expecting perfection. Nobody is perfect, and to set that expectation of yourself is only adding unnecessary stress. When you mess up, accept it and move on. Your audience will not notice your mess-ups if you deal with them properly.

These are two of Hosalkar’s most useful tips on getting past a fear of public speaking. Public speaking is 90% mental, and Hosalkar assures people that they can get past this unnecessary fear.
